2020 Open Meet

Storm does not stop masters swimmers attending open swim meet.

Over 50 Masters swimmers from the mainland travelled over to the island on Saturday 8th Febraury to swim in the IOW Marlins Masters Open Swim Meet at Medina Leisure Centre.

After a full programme of events the Top Lady Trophy was won by Susan Cummings from Banbury S.C.

The Top Male Trophy was won by Terry Wright of Bracknell & Wokingham Masters S.C. The Bracknell & Wokingham Team then won the Top Team Trophy.  The Charles Ambler Trophy for the Best Overall swimmer was also won by Terry Wright. The Trophies were presented by Bob Cooper, Chairman of the IOW Marlins Masters S.C.  Bob  said “The forecast did not put any of the entrants off and a competitive and friendly Masters Gala took place. There were many personal bests, which are just as important to Masters swimmers as they are for younger swimmers. I know that several of the swimmers were staying over for the weekend and I believe that they had a longer stay than expected due to the ferries being affected by the storm.”

Congratulations to all swimmers who took part in this year’s event.
