Half hour swim success
Tom Rooney – new record holder
Five members of the Isle of Wight Marlins Swim Club, recently took part in the ASA Masters’ Half Hour Swim Challenge, aiming to swim as many lengths as possible in thirty minutes.
Results are collated in the Masters’ usual five year age groups bands and two swimmers won their respective group: Tom Rooney 86 and Jenny Ball 75. Tom set a new record in his age group 85-89 years, swimming 50 lengths plus 20 metres (1270m) while Jenny completed 60 lengths (1500m).
Also taking part were Barbara Butler 60-64 who was 5th. in this group with 55 lengths (1375 m.), Rosemary Johnson 70-74, 54 lengths (1350m) and Fiona Newnham 55-59, 49 lengths (1225m.)
