2016 – pier to pier results
Congratulations to all the swimmers who took part in the 2016 pier to pier swim. VIEW RESULTS.
On a sunny afternoon 81 swimmers entered the sea by Sandown Pier and swam to site of the old Shanklin Pier for the 64th Pier to Pier Swim Race. The sea was deceptive as the tide was a spring tide but the slight wind was blowing in the opposite direction so the sea had a bit of a swell to it for the swimmers to deal with. All 81 completed the course, three doing so swimming breaststroke. The spring tide enabled some of the regular swimmers to beat their previous times, so great satisfaction all round. The Trophies were presented by Gary Watson, IOW World Para Freestyle Team Record Holder.
